CFI Self Defense UPRT and Spin
The CFI Self Defense UPRT and Spin course is designed specifically for Certified Flight Instructors and CFI candidates. The course meets the requirement for the CFI Spin Awareness Endorsement and focuses on the unique upset and spin risks present in the flight training environment — risks that are specific to instructors.
What you will cover:
Ground training focuses on the Mentality of Safety including Aeronautical Decision Making (ADM), Crew Resource Management (CRM), and Threat and Error Management (TEM), with advanced spin aerodynamics and upset scenarios specific to the instructional environment.
Each ground lesson pairs with a corresponding flight lesson covering spin recognition, entry, and recovery, along with visual and instrument upset prevention and recovery maneuvers. Training is focused on the skills that specifically mitigate risks CFIs face when instructing students.
This course covers both visual and instrument upset prevention and recovery, preparing instructors to handle the unexpected in any training scenario.
Endorsement Note:
This course satisfies the spin awareness training requirement for the CFI certificate as outlined in 14 CFR 61.183(i). Upon completion, UPRT USA will provide the required logbook endorsement.
